The field of Mechanical Testing for IANZ Laboratory Accreditation covers all types of mechanical testing laboratories. These include laboratories testing building products and construction materials (cement, concrete, glass, metals, timber, assemblies, etc); materials for infrastructure development (soil, aggregates, bitumen, etc); equipment (pressure vessels, weighing devices, pumps, engines, hand tools, etc); and other materials (textiles, leather, rope, etc).

With accreditation, mechanical testing laboratories receive formal recognition of the organisation’s technical competency after assessment of their processes, resources, facilities, staff skills and other key factors which relate to, and impact on, the quality of the testing service provided.

Accreditation Criteria

  • NZS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, and specific technical criteria where appropriate.
