| The field of Electrical Testing covers tests of an essentially electrical nature performed on instruments, equipment, appliances, components and material. The calibration of electrical and electronic instruments and equipment is included in the Metrology and Calibration field. With accreditation, electrical testing laboratories receive formal recognition of their technical competence after assessment of their processes, facilities, staff and other key factors which relate to, and impact on the quality of the testing service provided. Accreditation Criteria Accredited electrical testing laboratories are assessed fully every three years. Surveillance visits are carried out in each intervening year. Specific Classes of Test The classes of test for accredited electrical testing laboratories are flexible to ensure that the scope of accreditation of each laboratory is fully informative, to the advantage of both the laboratory and the client.
