The field of Mechanical Testing for IANZ Laboratory Accreditation covers all types of mechanical testing laboratories. These include laboratories testing building products and construction materials (cement, concrete, glass, metals, timber, assemblies, etc); materials for infrastructure development (soil, aggregates, bitumen, etc); equipment (pressure vessels, weighing devices, pumps, engines, hand tools, etc); and other materials (textiles, leather, rope, etc). The full list of classes of mechanical testing can be found in Mechanical Testing AS LAB C 4 - Appendix 1 (pdf).

With accreditation, mechanical testing laboratories receive formal recognition of the organisation’s technical competency after assessment of their processes, resources, facilities, staff skills and other key factors which relate to, and impact on, the quality of the testing service provided.
