The field of Metrology and Calibration accreditation covers all types of calibration, including electrical, dimensional, pressure, temperature, mass, humidity, light and time and frequency measurement. With accreditation, metrology and calibration laboratories receive formal recognition of their technical competence after assessment of their processes, facilities, staff and other key factors which relate to, and impact on the quality of the calibration service provided. There are 60 calibration laboratories accredited in New Zealand. Accredited laboratories are generally assessed fully every three years.
