Each year, the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs provides the Council with an annual letter of expectations setting out his/her expectations of the Council as a Crown Entity. In response to this, and to further detail its strategic objectives set out in the Statement of Intent, the Accreditation Council provides, to the New Zealand House of Representatives through the Minister, a Statement of Performance Expectations outlining its immediate objectives for the coming year.
